Business entity model configuration and visualization

Configuration

To configure the business entity model, navigate to the "Business Entity Model" tab in the administrator settings of Content Gate.

Please note: To be able to configure the business entity model, the user has to have either the System Administrator role in Dynamics 365

Adding a business entity type

Start the configuration by adding a business entity type by clicking the "Add" button in the top left.

In the dialog that appears, enter the name for the new business entity that needs to be add. By expanding the "Advanced" section in the dialog, users are also able to select the business entity connector and external type that they wish to link to the new entity.

The entity can be added to the model by clicking the "Add" button in the dialog.

Configuring general settings for a business entity type

Users can configure general settings for a business entity type by selecting the entity in the list on the left of the details screen, and then navigating to the general tab for that entity as highlighted in the image below.

On this page, the business entity type can be configured. The following configuration can be done on this page:

  • Add a description to the entity.
  • Supply the fields that will be used for constructing the entity title, and previewing the title.
  • Adding entity relations (explained below).
  • Linking a new business entity connector (explained below).

Adding, editing, and removing entity relations to and from a business entity type

In order to add an entity relation to a business entity type, click the "Add" button under the entity relations section.

In the dialog that appears, users can configure the following properties regarding the relation:

  • related entity type
  • the direction of the relation

Under advanced, users can configure the following properties regarding the relation:

  • relation cardinality
  • label names for the current and related entity

Linking a new business entity connector

In order to link a new business entity connector to a business entity type, click the "Link" button under the link a new business entity connector section.

In the dialog that appears users are able to select which connector the wish to link, and which external type they wish to use for creating this link.

Configuring the business entity type configuration

Users can configure the business entity configuration by selecting the entity in the list on the left of the details screen, and then navigating to the tab for the connector that they wish to configure as highlighted in the image below.

Adding, editing, and removing entity properties to and from a business entity type configuration

In order to add entity properties to a business entity type configuration, click the "Add" button in the entity properties section.

In the dialog that appears, users can supply a name for the property, as well as the value field that they wish to use to fill the property.

Adding, editing, and removing entity relation mappings to and from a business entity type configuration

In order to add entity relation mappings to a business entity type configuration, click the "Add" button in the entity relation mappings.

Once a relation is selected a proposed field mapping will be displayed. If another mapping is required, or no out-of-the-box field mapping could be resolved, select the " custom mapping" option and specify your own field mapping.

Users can remove a business entity connector link by clicking the "remove" button in the remove business entity connector link section of the page.
